Apple To Move Mac mini Production To U.S.?

When Apple’s CEO Tim Cook revealed in a interview with NBC Rock Center’s Brian Williams that one of the existing Mac lines will be manufactured in the U.S, it was speculated that Mac Pro production will be shifted to the U.S.

But Taiwanese publication DigiTimes reports that Mac mini production will be shifted to the U.S.
DigiTimes reports:


Apple is reportedly set to move its Mac mini production lines back to the US with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) to be responsible of handling establishment, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

According to DigiTimes, Foxconn – Apple’s manufacturing partner in China already has 15 operating bases in the U.S. and the company is planning to start recruiting for new automated production lines in 2013.
According to the report, Apple is expected to ship 1.8 million Mac minis in 2013, up from 1.4 million units in 2012.
