HzO Claims to be in Talks With Apple to Make Future iPhones Waterproof Using Their Water Blocking Technology

Last week, we reported about a company called Liquipel, which claimed to make the iPhone waterproof without a case, with a process that applies a patent pending waterproof coating on the iPhone to protect it from water or liquids.

Though it seemed too good to be true, quite a few of you seemed to be interested in the technology that could waterproof your iPhone.

Pocket-lint reports that HzO - another startup demonstrated their "WaterBlock" technology at CES 2012, which could make smartphones like the iPhone waterproof.

Here's what HzO has to say about their "WaterBlock" technology:

It is a chemical vapor deposition that blankets vital electronic circuitry with a nano-thin film containing highly effective, water-repelling properties. For the aesthetically conscious (you know who you are), no worries! WaterBlock™—when applied to clean, moisture-free surfaces, including plastic, metal, ceramic, steel, or tin—is transparent and creates a finish that doesn’t disrupt the look and feel on whatever it is applied. So, until you need it, you’ll forget it’s even there.

Pocket-lint reports that the company is in talks with companies like Apple to use their technology in future iPhones:

"We showed the Samsung Chairman the technology with a Samsung Galaxy S that we had coated with HZO and he couldn't believe his eyes," a representative of the company told us. "Samsung is really excited by the tech."

The company has told us that they are also talking to Apple as well, hoping to be able to let Apple make the iPhone 5 waterproof.

"We expect HZO to be in next season's phones," HZO told Pocket-lint rather confidently.

We doubt the technology will make it to the sixth generation iPhone, but it would be quite nice if future iPhones are waterproof - one less thing to worry about. What do you think? Sound off in the comments.
